The People of Capiton

Capiton was set up by Bob Dow and Peter Harvey, two vastly experienced businessmen who have both worked and succeeded in the private and public sectors.

•  Peter Harvey

After graduating from the Royal Agricultural College, Peter embarked on a career in estate management, finally spending ten years as the Managing Director of one of the largest dairying operations in the U.K.

Looking to expand his experience he then spent some time as Chief Executive and Managing Director of a number of agricultural supply businesses, often taking them through significant culture change and growth projects. At this time he was also involved in a number of merger and acquisitions.

 After a spell as the owner of a small business, he has spent the last fifteen years in the business support industry, being the Managing Director of Business Link Somerset Ltd. and the Director of Advisory Services for Business Link Devon and Cornwall where he had responsibility for over sixty business advisors. Building high performance teams is what really excites him.

 In his spare time he tries to play golf and is also a Trustee of a lage grant donating charity where he has specific responsibility for a £13 million share portfolio.

• Bob Dow

Bob is a chartered engineer and brings a particular skill of being able to quickly analyse probelms and devise credible solutions.

His earlier career incuded heading large engineering teams developing world leading communication equipment for international projects. His management skills resulted in his appointment as MD of a global electronics company where he implemented extensive change management and lead the company through a period of significant restructure and growth. During this time he gianed a reputation for excellent people management skills while at the same time driving high performance.

Bob subsequently changed career direction to apply his commitment to training and his management skills to the role of  Chief Executive of Devon and Cornwall Training and Enterprise Council and Business Link Devon and Cornwall where over an 11 year period he lead sustained growth and development of support services for businesses.

Since leaving Business Link Bob has run his own management consultancy company inclduing running a £2M loan and grant fund.  Bob is also Chairman of a specialist training company and involved at Board level in various economic development actiivites in Devon and Cornwall.

In his spare time he is keen sailor and tries to improve his golf handicap.
